We are very sorry…

Because de majority of visitors is from the Netherlands, this website is available in Dutch only. Nevertheless here is some information in English.

Vagebond is a one-off design by the famous Dutch designer Dick Koopmans, who also draws for Victoire and Breehorn. Vagebond has a steel hull and is 37 feet long. We bought her early 2001 with in de back of our minds the idea to go blue water cruising for a couple of years.

Returning from Norway summer 2003 we made the final decision. We sold our house and quit our jobs. May 2004 we will head for the Mediterranean. Next year November (2005) we will start our first Atlantic crossing from the Canary Islands to the Caribbean. We will return ‘home’ in the summer of 2006. By then we will have to find a new home and new jobs.

Update 27/3/2007: Early 2006 we decided to add another year to our cruise. Summer 2006 we sailed from Saint Martin via Bermuda to Nova Scotia, Canada. The Saint Lawrence brought us to Quebec, Montreal and Lake Ontario. From there we took the Oswego and Erie Canals to the Hudson and NYC. In the fall we "did" the Intra Coastal Waterway to Florida and the Keys. Then the "thorny path" to the Bahamas, the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, the Virgins and finaly back to our "starting point" Saint Martin. From there we will leave for the Azores in may 2007 and expect to back in the Netherlands in the fall of 2007.
